  1. Next Level Catching Academy is and will continue to be the best well-rounded, organized, challenging, helpful, and FUN organization for catchers who want to compete! The coaching staff is top-notch. My catching, training, and approach to the game has been elevated thanks to NLCA. I value, appreciate and give much credit to NLCA for my development and preparation throughout my catching development from 13U Travel Ball, Varsity, Developmental program and my opportunity to play D1 college ball!

  2. NLCA goes about things the right way. They start with the basics, building on your strengths, while developing and improving previous weaknesses, thus making them strengths. Coach Duarte and staff are 100% dedicated to promoting, developing, and challenging every catcher they work with. In my case, the most important thing I have learned from NLCA, is how to prepare myself for games, not only while going to the sessions, but using the drills and tools they have provided and applying them in my everyday practice(s). I am extremely grateful to have been able to attend NLCA sessions over the past couple of years, and would strongly encourage catchers with drive, determination, and dedication to attend!

  3. NLCA introduced me to many other aspects of catching and more perspectives of how to approach the game as a catcher. The coaches are awesome and do a great job coaching each and every guy there. Its always fun while remaining in a competitive environment.

  4. NLCA is hands down the best catching development program around the I.E. and SGV. Duarte and his team work beyond catch, throw & block. Each camp circles back on some foundational aspects of catching but always builds on technique, form, footwork and some of the tiniest details that the casual fan has no idea but a head coach, pitching coach and pitchers all want and expect at the college and pro levels. Our oldest was one of NLCA’s first students back in 2008 and went on to San Francisco St University and was a 4-time All Conference Catcher. Now, currently still playing Professionally with the Independent San Rafael Pacifics and an assistant coach with Pomona Pitzer College. He is also frequently one of Duarte’s instructors.
Our youngest started much sooner with NLCA and finishing up his senior season in high school and will be attending Point Loma University on a baseball scholarship.

  5. NLCA has been the single handed greatest thing that has happened to my catching career. The amount of expertise that is on the field with you at one time is unmatched. The Physical and mental side of catching that is taught not only makes sense, but also equips you for the next level of baseball. The targeting of a few aspects of the game for one camp is extremely efficient at teaching catchers the little things within the game. I am honored to be a part of the family at Next Level and will represent to the best of my abilities.

  6. Next Level Catching Academy has and always will be the premier catching academy in Southern California. When I began going to Justin in 2012, there were only a handful of kids that took lessons from him. And as you all can see, his knowledge of the art of catching has propelled his academy and his catchers to the top. The thing that separates NLCA from the rest is that as you progress physically and begin to perfect blocking, receiving, and other facets of catching, the coaches progress with you and will begin to teach you more mental sides of the game. Everything I know about catching, I have learned from Justin Duarte and I would recommend the Next Level Catching Academy to anyone who would like the opportunity to completely change their game.

  7. NLCA has always taught their catchers in a way that every good program should. All coaches start off by building a good foundation by teaching the basics, but they also building on the strengths of the catcher. I first started attending NLCA as a sophomore in the year 2012 and it was by far the best decision I ever made. JD and the whole coaching staff have worked with me and helped to form me into the catcher I am today. The thing I really like about NLCA is the competitive atmosphere between the players. Although we are being competitive we all want to see each other do well. I have also been fortunate enough to have been asked to coach with the NLCA coaches and it has been awesome to see how each player responses to the coaching and how each player truly wants to get better. Next Level Catching Academy is something I recommend to almost every catcher that is trying to play at the next level.
